Reconfigurable Systems Summer Institute 2007

The 2007 Reconfigurable Systems Summer Institute (RSSI'07) will bring together scientists and technology developers from industry and academia to present and discuss new research on high-performance reconfigurable computing (HPRC) from July 18-20 in Urbana, Illinois.

Topics will include:

• Architecture of HPRC devices and systems
• Languages, compilation techniques, and tools
• Libraries and run-time environments
• Performance modeling/prediction and benchmarks
• Algorithms, methodology, and best practices in application development
• Applications of HPRC in science and engineering
• Trends and the latest developments in HPRC

A keynote address will be given by Alan D. George, director of the National Science Foundation Center for High-Performance Reconfigurable Computing (CHREC) and a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. In his talk, "Reconfigurable Computing: From Satellites to Supercomputers," George will describe how HPRC has grown to become one of the most promising new directions for advanced computational technologies. He will focus on opportunities and challenges in reconfigurable computing from the perspective of CHREC, including case studies that range from satellites to supercomputers.

• Nallatech Application Accelerator Workshop: Training will include a detailed introduction to the new Intel FSB FPGA module and Intel's "Quickassist" Accelerated Abstraction layer architecture as well as detailed training on DIME-C and DIMEtalk. The final two hours of this full-day event will be a closed Nallatech Users Group workshop.
• SGI/Mitrionics workshop on implementing open source NCBI BLAST to the SGI RC100 with the Mitrion Virtual Processor.
• SRC Users Meeting: Current and prospective customers can gain programming and design tips, hear presentations from leaders in the reconfigurable computing field who are using SRC systems, receive updates on SRC's hardware and software advances, and give their feedback on SRC's products and services. SRC's 2007 Award for Excellence in Reconfigurable Computing will be presented.
